Blogs We Like – Apartment Therapy

One of my favorite pastimes is going to garage sales.  You’ve heard the adage, other peoples junk is someone else’s treasures.  I also love to decorate, so you can imagine that I get bored with things in my house and the need to change things up, is quite often.  I doubt I need to explain that that can also get quite expensive…and in this economy, who needs to spend more than necessary.  I found that some of my best buys/treasures are from garage sales.  The broken chair that needed only a little glue and a new coat of paint was my favorite.  I will admit, my husband gives me a hard time about some of the things I insist on having, but he has come to trust me in my vision of “junk”!  So, in an effort to keep things new and intriguing I have taken to scouring neighborhood garage sales and thrift stores.

It is for the frivolous need for change, that I love the blog http://www.apartmenttherapy.com  They offer great ideas for simple room changes, helpful hints of how to combine “my stuff” with “his stuff” or simply mixing styles.  In fact the title of the blog is “apartment therapy saving the world, one room at a time”.  Love it!  You don’t have to live in an apartment to appreciate the great ideas in this blog.  In fact, remember my lonely broken chair that needed painting, glue and love…this blog has a great idea to use a chair as a bedside table.  Who would have thought?  Many of the ideas in this blog are easy and affordable.  With a little luck at a garage sale, thrift shop or flea market, you too, can find treasures.  Look past the worn paint or broken picture frame and you can redecorate your, home easily and inexpensively.
